I'm a travel bug.... but as far as i can remember i always travel with my mom or with a friend.
This time, i wanted to experience travelling alone. And since I'm not really confident enough to travel far... I chose the easiest and most accessible from Singapore....
This post accounts this travel experience....
From singapore.... I decided to use a new travel agency... I always use the agency near my work.... but since I wanted to experience the service provided by other agency I decided to use the one near my house....
And it's such a complete waste....
1. the hotel confirmation was supposed to be done on Mondays but i did not received any call from them. I decided to call them on tuesday but they say my hotel is fully booked. So they offered a different one with a higher rate. Thankfully I was able to collect my voucher on Thursday afternoon (travel was set on Friday)
2. Their rate is much higher than my usual agency. I think the difference is about 30 - 45 SGD
3. Their travel agency contact is dedicated for chinese speaking tourist.
Okay.... enough of that....
It's Friday morning and I overslept.... I'm suppose to be at Harbourfront by 10:50 AM. I woke up at 10 AM and I need 45 minutes to go the terminal.... Thankfully the person in-charge of the trip stayed for us late-comers (Note: I'm not the last person to collect my ticket ^_^)
After almost 1 1/2 hours, I reached Batam. Underwent the immigration procedure and so forth....
And I met my guide, Acutally there's two of them; a guy and a girl. The guy, I don't have a problem with him he can speak english and it enough for me to understand his instruction. But the thing is he is in-charge for the other group. So after I was briefed, I was left with the girl. And that was a complete let down. She can't understand english at all....
(enough... my tension is rising again....)
So after that I was able to check in and since its already lunch i decided to ate at the in-house korean restaurant....
The meal is quite good. (it's so good that even with my previous experience.... i decided to ate dinner on my last evening)
This is where my adventure starts....
I'm watching the newly downloaded clip of arashi on my zen when i remember that I brought my laptop and the place is not dangerous at all if i'm to use it... oh boy i'm so mistaken.....
So after 1 hour.... in noticed that all my fellow diners is gone. And the staff is runing outside the restaurant.
HOnestly, i thought there's a parade. The girl is shouting in indonesian language and I'm not able to understand it at ALL!!!
Fortunately, there's one staff that is able to translate whatever they are saying... "FIRE.... The KITCHEN is on FIRE!!!!"
EHHH, hontou ne! I grabbed my things and went to the next exit. But i was held by the cashier.... I need to settle my bill.... HOnestly, there is fire and they still want me to pay....
Okay, I totally understand that i need to settle my bill so i went back and check how much i need to pay. 26 SGD. I don't have exact amount so i gave 30.
and then that's it.
GRRRRRRRRR
The gall has the nerve to collect the bill but it seems that she does not have any intention to give the change in return. She did not even ask for my room number so she can give it to me later on.....
And now after the trip.... i'm already in Singapore but sad to say I still haven't received my change.
It's just 4 dollars. But i thinks this really reflects the attitude of the hotel.
So as per my review and comment for Planet Holiday in Batam:
1. Staff's english skills is very minimal. Only the front office staff is able to speak little english. If you ask them any question and use english terms that are not really common. I say Good Luck... ^_^
2. I don't think they have enough insurance policy to cover unexpected circumstances. I think during the fire emergency, since it happens in the kitichen, the insurance should have covered the amount for the losses. Inclusive of the bills not payed by the customers.
On the positive note:
3. ehhh.... i can't think of any. I think I've been so disappointed that I am not able to see the hotel's good side.
